On a quiet Saturday afternoon, tea enthusiasts gathered at U.P. Diliman for Sip & Soothe: The Ritual of Tea Making a gentle, grounding workshop that invited participants to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect through the mindful art of tea.

From the moment the session began, calm set the tone. The workshop opened with a simple grounding practice to help everyone arrive fully. What followed was a warm and immersive experience of tea blending, journaling, and intentional rest.

Participants explored a thoughtfully curated selection of herbs and ingredients, including black tea with clove and milk, the refreshing crispness of spearmint, and the visually captivating butterfly pea flower, which changed color from deep blue to purple and pink when lemon juice was added. This small act of transformation brought wonder and joy to the table.

โ€œWatching the butterfly pea tea change color felt like watching myself soften. It was magical.โ€ โ€“ Riza

Each guest created their own custom blend, guided not just by taste but by intuition and feeling. While sipping their creations, they were invited to reflect through journaling prompts centered on rest, presence, and personal ritual.

โ€œI didnโ€™t know tea could be this grounding. Just slowing down like this made me feel more connected to myself.โ€ โ€“ Sharie

The atmosphere was quiet and nurturing, with soft conversations and thoughtful moments shared. The tea-making became a sensory meditation, a hands-on reminder that even everyday acts can be sacred when done with intention.

โ€œThis was the reset I didnโ€™t know I needed. Iโ€™ll definitely be making tea differently from now on.โ€ โ€“ Tere

The workshop concluded with a light snack and a casual sharing circle. Some spoke about how rare it is to find spaces like this that invite slowness, reflection, and connection without pressure.

Each participant took home their personalized tea blend, a tea journal, and a few small tokens from the day, a tangible reminder that peace can be steeped into even the busiest of days.

A Pause Well Taken

Sip & Soothe was more than a tea workshop, it was a moment of collective exhale. It reminded us that rest is not a luxury, but a ritual we can return to, one mindful cup at a time.
