New MOU Promotes Environmental and Cycling Advocacy in the Philippines

March 15, 2026 — Filipinos for Nature, Inc. and Beseekleta for Every Juan signed an MOU at the University Hotel, Diliman, committing to a shared vision for a greener, more sustainable Philippines.

Filipinos for Nature, Inc. and Beseekleta for Every Juan officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the University Hotel in Diliman, Quezon City. The signing formalizes a three-year collaboration between the two nonprofit organizations, united by a shared commitment to environmental sustainability, inclusive mobility, and community empowerment.

The event brought together representatives from both organizations for an initial engagement that laid the groundwork for a partnership bridging cycling advocacy and environmental action; two movements the organizations believe are deeply interconnected.

A Partnership Rooted in Shared Values

The MOU commits both organizations to advance sustainable and inclusive mobility, promote environmental stewardship and climate resilience, and support women, children, and marginalized communities through creative and community-rooted advocacy. Under the agreement, the two organizations will co-organize at least two collaborative community-based initiatives annually over the next 36 months. These may include awareness-building activities such as fun runs, bike rides, and eco-walks; environmental action drives like clean-ups, tree planting, and urban gardening; and arts- and culture-driven engagements such as creative workshops, public exhibits, and street installations.

Both organizations will also collaborate on shared advocacy campaigns tied to key awareness dates — including Earth Month, World Bicycle Day, Earth Hour, International Women’s Day, and Climate Justice Week — through co-branded content, digital storytelling, and joint forums exploring the intersections of mobility, environment, and social justice.

What Each Organization Brings

Filipinos for Nature will lead environmental education components, contribute creative and artistic inputs, and coordinate engagement with youth and local communities. The organization will also support storytelling for advocacy campaigns and help integrate an environmental lens into mobility and gender justice narratives.

Beseekleta for Every Juan will lead bike route planning and safety coordination, offer cycling orientation and inclusion workshops, and engage the broader cycling community. The organization also brings technical knowledge on active transport policy, with a focus on promoting accessible and safe cycling for marginalized groups — including through programs that provide bicycles to less fortunate individuals and establish community bike repair stations.

Upcoming Programs

The partnership meeting also served as a preview of upcoming initiatives from both sides. Filipinos for Nature shared two key programs on the horizon: a Community Engagement with the Dumagat Tribe (April 1–3, 2026), focusing on sustainability awareness and capacity development with the indigenous community; and a Sustainability Capacity Development Program in Marikina City, a training initiative designed to build environmental awareness and practical skills among beneficiary youth.

Beseekleta for Every Juan, meanwhile, highlighted its growing network of partner organizations and community groups, including Centro de Turismo Intramuros, and its active presence in community booths, exhibits, and public events as platforms for cycling and mobility advocacy.

Moving Forward Together

Both organizations expressed enthusiasm for the road ahead. As Beseekleta for Every Juan noted in marking the occasion: “We move forward with purpose, passion, and a shared vision for a more sustainable future for the Philippines.”

Both parties agreed to maintain open communication and regular coordination to identify further opportunities for collaboration as the partnership grows.

Present at the signing were Roy Maceda (Founder), Roann Maceda, Marco Santiago, and Alysa Santiago from Beseekleta for Every Juan, and Khaz Raza, Jodell Robiso, Riza Tesorero, Ayesha Sombillo, Christopher Ador, Kristine Delarmente, Erhle Balabbo, and Ela Torres from Filipinos for Nature, Inc.
